Best Buy revamps, renames membership program; offers three different options

Best Buy is upgrading its membership program.

Best Buy is overhauling its Totaltech annual membership program into a multi-
tiered offering with a new name, new benefits and new prices.

The revamped program, called My Best Buy Memberships, will launch on June 27. It includes three membership options: My Best Buy, My Best Buy Plus and My Best Buy Total. The top tier, My Best Buy Total, includes Geek Squad tech support 24/7, regardless of where an item was bought and 20% off repairs.

Best Buy’s existing Totaltech membership program rolled out nationwide in 2021 and served as the foundation for the new tiered program. Members be able to transition between the three tiers of the new program or cancel their membership at any time.

"We’ve learned a tremendous amount from our members over the last couple years, especially that different customers value very different benefits when it comes to their technology,” said Patrick McGinnis, senior VP of memberships at Best Buy. “Creating these new membership options allows us to be there for all of our customers in the ways that are most important to them.”

Here are the specific offerings of each tier.

My Best Buy

Best Buy’s existing free membership plan includes:

  • Free shipping with no minimum purchase..
  • Access to purchase history, online order tracking and up-to-date shipping information.
  • Quick checkout.
  • Wish lists.

My Best Buy Plus

For $49.99/year, My Best Buy Plus includes everything that comes with My Best Buy, as well as:

  • Exclusive member-only prices on thousands of items.
  • Exclusive access to sales, events and highly anticipated products.
  • Free 2-day shipping with no minimum purchase.
  • Extended 60-day return and exchange window on most products.

My Best Buy Total

For 179.99/year, My Best Buy Total includes everything offered with My Best Buy Plus, as well as:

  • Geek Squad 24/7/365 tech support for all tech—no matter where it was bought.
  • VIP priority support any time and access to specially trained team for advice, customer service and coordination via phone or chat.
  • Up to two years of product protection, including AppleCare+, on most new Best Buy purchases.
  • 20% off repairs.
  • Promotional service offers, like discounted in-home installation and haul away.

Current Totaltech members will continue to receive their existing membership benefits through the end of their renewal date.

In addition, My Best Buy credit card holders will get access to more benefits, including an exclusive 5% back in rewards or flexible financing options on any purchase made at Best Buy. As a cardholder, they also are automatically enrolled into and have access to My Best Buy (free) membership benefits.
