Domino’s meets electric vehicle goal, will deploy hundreds more
Domino's Pizza Inc. is not stopping at 800 electric delivery vehicles.
The world’s largest pizza retailer has achieved a target it set in November 2022 of having more than 800 custom-branded 2023 Chevy Bolt electric delivery vehicles on the road in the U.S. by the end of 2023. Now, Domino’s says more than 1,100 of the Chevy Bolt electric vehicles will be on the ground and in use at select franchise and corporate U.S. stores by the end of the year.
According to Domino’s, electric vehicles provide several advantages, including ample battery life with the potential to have days of deliveries, zero tailpipe emissions, advanced safety features and lower average maintenance costs than non-electric vehicles. Domino's is currently partnering with Enterprise Fleet Management to provide local account management, vehicle acquisition, financing, telematics solutions and maintenance for its electric delivery fleet.
“Back in November 2022, Domino's announced that we'd have 800 EVs on the road by the end of 2023 and we're excited to say that we've officially reached that number," said Joe Jordan, Domino's president of U.S. and global services. "All 800 vehicles are on the road, delivering at various stores across the country. We are even more thrilled to announce that number is growing. Our stores and franchisees have continued to express their enthusiasm and interest around EVs, and they've ordered an additional 300-plus cars to be on the road by the end of the year."

Domino’s pursues delivery innovation
Domino’s has been experimenting with technology-enhanced delivery methods for the past few years. In August 2019, the company began piloting custom e-bikes for pizza delivery through a partnership with electric bicycle (e-bike) provider Rad Power Bikes, and now offers delivery via electric bike or scooter in 24 international markets, including the U.S.
The retailer has also been actively testing self-driving robotic delivery vehicles, including a 2021 test of Nuro automated vehicles in the Houston market. Dominos has additionally conducted a two-month driverless delivery pilot in Miami, in partnership with Ford Motor Co. among other tests.
