First Look: Madewell opens new in-store concept in revamped NYC flagship
Madewell, a division of J. Crew Group, has re-opened the doors to its largest store in New York City.
Located on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, the 9,000-sq.-ft. revamped flagship offers the brand’s entire collections for men and women, It also features Madewell’s first-ever “denim atelier,” a dedicated space that offers a new approach to the traditional fitting room.
Along with tailoring and hemming services, the atelier area is available for single or group appointments that come with personal advice from a Madewell stylist as well as complimentary aperitifs that further enhance the try-on experience.
The area also boasts three-way mirrors and lighting equipped providing the ultimate experience for trying on clothing and for customers who want to capture the experience on social media.
Along with shopping for apparel, customers can also browse a selection of art, travel and design books that have been curated in partnership with McNally Jackson Books. The dedicated bookshelf will be on a quarterly basis, with the book available for direct purchase via QR codes.
Earlier this summer, Madewell unveiled a new store on the Upper East Side of Manhattan that showcases the brand’s updated store design aesthetic.
In August, Adrienne Lazarus was appointed president of Madewell, reporting to J. Crew Goup CEO Libby Wadle. Most recently, she was co-CEO of direct-to-consumer intimates brand Cuup, and a senior advisor at McKinsey & Company.
Madewell operates approximately 150 stores across the U.S. and Canada.
