Target Corp. and Ulta Beauty have revealed more details — including the brand lineup — about the Ulta Beauty at Target shop-in-shop initiative.
The shops will begin rolling out in August, opening in more than 100 Target locations nationwide by the end of the year, with plans to grow to a total of 800 shops during the next few years. The list of the launch locations can be found here. Target will also sell a curated assortment of the products online. (The two retailers announced their partnership in November. The brightly colored shops will offer a curated assortment of products from more than 50 beauty brands for makeup, skin care and hair. The lineup will include such prestige brands as MAC Cosmetics, Stila, Clinique, Clarins, Shiseido, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Drybar, Bumble and bumble and more. It also will include new cult-faves such as The Ordinary.
The mini Ulta shops will be located near Target's existing beauty section and will feature specialized displays, discovery zones and on-trend, seasonally relevant offerings. The shop employees will be trained by Ulta to recommend beauty products.
Customers who shop Ulta Beauty at Target will be eligible for rewards from both Target's and Ulta's reward programs. Online shoppers will receive free shipping for qualifying orders and Target’s same-day fulfillment services at participating store locations.
"This unique partnership is another way we continue to elevate the guest experience across our multi-category business to drive traffic and preference as we meet guests’ needs in innovative ways,” said Christina Hennington, executive VP and chief growth officer, Target. “With two powerhouse retailers, our collective brand love, loyalty and omnichannel expertise will inspire guests and raise the bar for the beauty shopping experience.”
Target is not the only big retailer making a big play in beauty. Sephora is set to open hundreds of in-store shops inside Kohl’s stores, starting this fall.
