Perry Ellis International Inc. is turning its physical stores into omnichannel commerce hubs.

The specialty apparel and accessories brand is deploying HotWax Commerce omnichannel fulfillment technology to support its new buy online, pickup in store (BOPIS) and ship-from-store offerings.

Operating approximately 70 brick-and-mortar stores, Perry Ellis uses Shopify and XStore for its e-commerce and POS systems. Having been offering BOPIS services at the physical locations of other retailers through a partnership with ViaDelivery since November 2022, the company now uses its own stores as omnichannel fulfillment centers.

Leveraging the HotWax Commerce BOPIS solution empowers Perry Ellis can show real-time inventory availability at stores on the product detail page of its Shopify e-commerce platform. Shoppers can choose their preferred store as the pickup location and save it, and also view merchandise specific to that store on the Shopify product listing page of the Shopify eCommerce platform.

In addition, customers can search for Perry Ellis in-store pickup locations by ZIP code or city. The company partners with online delivery platform Shipt to offer same-day delivery, and utilizes the Hotwax ship-from-store solution to show customers if items can be delivered same-day from their shopping cart based on parameters like ZIP code, store operating hours, time taken by store to prepare the order, and the store’s pickup deadlines

Perry Ellis also automatically applies the expected delivery date to delivery orders based on the selected fulfillment method, and confirms delivery date of order with Shipt, enabling the company to notify customers of the actual expected ship date if it differs from what they requested.

The company updates customers about order fulfillment status from store pick-up to delivery by getting information from the Shipt system, and embeds its store fulfillment app for associates into its XStore POS system to help ensure accurate and fast order fulfillment.

“We decided to go with HotWax Commerce after assessing various solutions,” said Raymond Conesa, VP of e-commerce operations, Perry Ellis International. “On top of the company’s proven track record of working with Shopify retailers, the solutions can be implemented at a pace that aligns with the unique needs of our brands,”

“We are thrilled to partner with Perry Ellis to help them leverage their store network as fulfillment centers to fulfill online orders at lightning fast delivery speed and reduced shipping costs,” said Anil Patel, CEO at HotWax Commerce. “Our user-friendly applications and headless APIs are a perfect fit for the brand's needs, and we are confident that our solutions will enable Perry Ellis to sell more products and deliver them quickly."
