Report: Macy’s to close landmark Seattle store
Macy’s will reportedly shutter a store it has run at an historic location in downtown Seattle since 2003.
According to the Seattle Times, Macy’s is selling a block-sized brick-and-mortar store it operates at 300 Pine Street in downtown Seattle. Macy’s, which purchased the building from Bon Marche in 2003, is selling it and will close the store down in February 2020. Clearance sales will begin in January 2020, with normal in-store holiday promotions beginning on Nov. 29.
Employees were reportedly informed of the decision to close the store on Friday, Sept. 27. A Macy’s spokesperson confirmed the closure to the Times. The building, which has housed retail operations since 1929, was designated an historic landmark in 1988.
