A2L Servicing Best Practices

HVACR service technicians are at the leading edge of the transition to lower-GWP refrigerants in commercial refrigeration. Lower flammability A2L refrigerants are emerging as viable alternatives but will require new safety management strategies and more rigorous attention to HVACR servicing fundamentals. 

Although the technician community is largely unfamiliar with A2L servicing requirements, the transition to A2Ls won’t require a fundamental shift in the way service calls are conducted. Recommended best practices for A1 refrigerants still apply — with the addition of a few special considerations and A2L-rated tools.
