Panera on pace to hit $1 billion in digital sales this year

6/14/2017

Panera Bread’s digital sales growth is close to hitting a significant milestone.

The fast casual chain, which is known for its signature soups, sandwiches and salads, is slated to report digital sales well above $1 billion on an annualized basis. Panera's electronic orders are on track to be twice as high in two years, according to CNBC.

Sales from mobile, Web and kiosk made up 26% of the company’s total sales, and an estimated 1.2 million digital orders are placed weekly. Based on these orders, the company has the highest rate of digital sales of any non-pizza restaurant chain, Panera said in the report.

The brand credits the milestone to its Panera 2.0 initiative, the company's mobile-payment system and digital-ordering strategy, which the company launched in 2014, according to CNBC.
