Walgreens Boots Alliance makes leadership appointments
Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) has made three new executive appointments, including a new hear for its U.S. health care business and a permanent CFO.
The pharmacy and health care services company appointed Mary Langowski as executive VP and president, U.S. Healthcare. She succeeds John Driscoll, who will transition to a senior advisory role.
Langowski joins WBA from Solera Health, a value-based technology business serving payers and employers, where she spent six years. She was appointed CEO in 2020 after serving as Solera's independent board director and has successfully transformed the company with the launch of new condition product lines, a new technology platform and a new economic model to support sustained growth in the business, WBA said in a release.
Langowski also spent two years at CVS Health, serving as executive VP and chief strategy and corporate development officer from 2014 to 2016, helping lead its health care services strategy and key aspects of CVS’ acquisition of Aetna.
In other appointments, Manmohan Mahajan was named executive VP and global CFO. He has served as interim CFO since July 2023 and has helped lead WBA’s growth and cost discipline efforts aimed at aligning the company’s cost structure with business performance, according to WBA. His efforts include a focused approach to increasing cash flow across the company by lowering capital expenditures and keeping the company on pace toward $1 billion in cost savings this year
Mahajan joined WBA in 2016 and previously served as senior VP, global controller and chief accounting officer. Prior to joining the WBA, Mahajan served in positions of increasing responsibility with GE Capital, a former subsidiary of General Electric Company.
Elizabeth Burger has been appointed executive VP and chief human resources officer (CHRO). Prior to joining WBA, Burger served as senior vice president, CHRO at Flowserve, a leading provider of flow control products and services for the global infrastructure markets. Previously, she served as CHRO with apparel manufacturer Hanesbrands Inc. She has more than 25 years of business experience.

Langowski, Mahajan and Burger will report directly to Wentworth and join WBA’s current executive committee.
With approximately 12,500 locations across the U.S., Europe and Latin America, WBA operates Walgreens, Boots, Duane Reade, the No7 Beauty Company and Benavides in Mexico.
