Watch out Chuck. E. Cheese — Lowe’s new pilot involves kids birthday parties
Lowe’s is taking its weekly in-store workshops for kids to a new level.
The home improvement retailer announced the launch of an in-store kids' birthday party program “that aims to inspire the next generation of builders while giving parents a comprehensive one-stop party solution.” Lowe's new “Build A Birthday” party pilot expands on its successful monthly kids' workshop program.
Starting January 19, parents can book a paid, private party in 10 Lowe's stores across the United States. (See list of locations at end of story.) Prices start at $349.
Designed for kids five years of age and up, parties can be scheduled for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Packages include do-it-yourself project kits for 12 kids (with the option to have up to 20 kids participate). Kids can choose to build projects such as wooden castles, race cars, custom wall shelves and more. The package includes all required tools and materials, along with safety goggles, aprons and party construction hats.
Parents can also upgrade the package to include pizza, drinks and desserts from Domino's, as well as Lowe's party favors such as T-Shirts, water bottles and backpacks. Each birthday party will last two hours, and be led by a Lowe's “party captain,” who will give kids practical- and hands-on knowledge, the company said.
"Home improvement is about the whole family and that's why we have Weekending at Lowe's events every Saturday at our stores, including our kids' workshops that help us feel connected to our littlest DIYers," said Jen Wilson, senior VP, enterprise brand and marketing, Lowe’s. "And this launch is a natural extension of that relationship – not only do we want to inspire future builders, but we want DIY – and Lowe's – to be an integral part of family milestones and memories."
Lowe's Build a Birthday parties will be available in the following markets:
- Brooklyn, N.Y.;
- North Bergen, N.J.;
