Etsy is encouraging sales via channels beyond its site.
Etsy Inc. is launching a new program that rewards sellers for bringing sales to their Etsy shops from other sources.
In time for the upcoming holiday season, the online marketplace retailer is introducing Etsy Share & Save, an offering which provides participating sellers with unique links they can share digitally outside of Etsy to promote their items. Sellers can embed links in channels including social media, texts, personal websites, and email marketing.
When buyers visit a seller’s Etsy shop via their link and make a purchase, Etsy will take 4% of the order total off the seller’s bill, helping them save on fees. Different types of links sellers can embed include direct links to their Etsy shop, specific listings in or sections of a shop, promo codes and reviews. Links never expire.
In addition, the Etsy seller app enables sellers to place trackable links back to their shop within positive reviews. Buyers must place their order within 30 days of clicking a link for the order to be eligible for Share & Save.
Designed with Etsy seller feedback after what the company says was extensive testing, Esty Share & Save is open for participation to all eligible sellers, regardless of experience level. Joining the completely optional program is free, with trackable links for sellers, and can be accomplished in one click. Opting out is also a one-click process.
To help sellers utilize Etsy Share & Save, the company will be rolling out resources in the coming weeks. These will include tips and tricks sellers can use to promote their shops on their own channels, and Etsy is hosting a deep-dive workshop for sellers on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023, as part of its series of holiday workshops.
“We’re always working to expand the range of tools and services we offer to help our sellers grow., Etsy COO Raina Moskowitz said in a corporate blog post. “We can’t wait to see all the creative ways our sellers will leverage Etsy Share & Save to help build their business, connect with new buyers and create an even more joyful shopping experience on Etsy, this holiday season and beyond.”
