Staples launches new tech support offering

Staples has a new support plan for computer shoppers.

Staples is providing customers with access to round-the-clock computer support.

The specialty office supply giant is introducing Total Support Plans, designed to protect customers who purchase computers from viruses, identity theft, crashed laptops, accidents, and more, with a live agent available at any time of day.

Customers who purchase a new computer at Staples or have an existing computer can select from one of three plans, which all include varying levels of hardware and software protection and daily maintenance.

All three of the plan levels come with unlimited virus removals at one price with no extra fees or deductibles, starting at $199.99. Customers will have access to live support through messaging, phone, or by coming into any Staples store.

Total Support

Starting at $199.99 this plan includes:

  • Two years of computer protection and tech support.
  • One year of McAfee antivirus protection.
  • Setup and optimization with data transfer and program installation .
  • Unlimited virus removals.
  • 24/7/365 tech help.
  • Professional data recovery.
  • McAfee secure VPN.
  • Access to digital videos on tech tutorials .

Total Support Plus

Starting at $349.99, this plan includes everything in Total Support, as well as:

  • Two years of accidental damage from handling such as drops, spills and cracked screens for new laptops.
  • Two years of McAfee antivirus protection.

Total Support Max

Starting at $399.99 this plan includes everything in Total Support Plus, as well as:

  • Up to four years of computer protection and accidental damage from handling such as drops, spills and cracked screens for new laptops.
  • Identity theft protection that monitors site and alerts for fraud to protect your identity.
  • Identity restoration with up to $1M million in identity theft coverage and hands-on restoration assistance.

Staples also offers product protection and expert help from technology support provider Asurion. Customers who purchase new technology devices and select the Staples Asurion protection & tech help plan will receive services from Asurion, including personal setup assistance, troubleshooting, and repair or replacement.
