A specialty retailer of cookware, kitchen electrics and bakeware will be providing same-day delivery through Walmart’s hosted service.

In time for the holiday season, Sur La Table will offer same-day delivery nationwide in collaboration with the Walmart white-label GoLocal  “delivery-as-a-service” platform by mid-November. Customers across the country who live approximately within 20 miles of a Sur La Table store and place orders by 2:30 p.m. local time can have items delivered to their home the same day.

Orders placed after 2:30 p.m. will be delivered the following day. Customers can shop, order and receive items across all product categories offered by Sur La Table, including cookware, bakeware and holiday essentials.

“Sur La Table is excited to work with Walmart GoLocal to offer unparalleled delivery speed and convenience to our customers across the U.S.,” said Rachel Frederick, president and GM of e-commerce, Sur La Table. “Our customers choose Sur La Table for our high-quality kitchenware, and we’re excited to delight them with quicker delivery powered by Walmart GoLocal for their online orders, so they can make more, gather often and live their best life through food.”

“Offering convenient, dependable delivery to our clients is a cornerstone of Walmart GoLocal’s offerings,” said Eliza Wendel, senior director and head of sales and business development, Walmart GoLocal. “Teaming up with Sur La Table will allow home cooks across the country the opportunity to fully equip their kitchens with durable, elegant cookware, delivered with speed by Walmart GoLocal.”

Through its new partnership with Walmart GoLocal, Sur La Table is expanding its e-commerce capabilities by adding home delivery to its current offerings, which include same-day in-store pick-up through its e-commerce site.

Walmart GoLocal – a primer

Walmart initially launched its white-label GoLocal “delivery-as-a-service” offering in October 2021. The managed service platform provides nationwide delivery capabilities on a range of products, including those with size and complex requirements, as well as the flexibility to meet varying timelines.

The discount giant built the service on the existing infrastructure supporting the Express Delivery same-day delivery service it rolled out in 2020. This includes drones, autonomous vehicles and market fulfillment centers.

Walmart said at the time of launch it planned to rapidly expand GoLocal to offer additional services. So far, these have included a partnership with e-commerce platform provider Cogentry Labs to provide an integrated white-label, turnkey e-commerce delivery solution to mid-sized and independent grocery retailers; as well as a collaboration with Delivery Solutions as a last-mile delivery service provider.

Walmart’s initial GoLocal managed delivery partner was home improvement giant The Home Depot. Specialty apparel retailer Chico’s FAS has also partnered with Walmart GoLocal, and more recently bookstore chain Books-A-Million introduced same- and next-day delivery nationwide using the service.
