Staples expands same-day delivery with new partnership
As consumers start stocking up on back-to-school items, Staples is providing them with more options for same-day delivery of online orders.
The retailer is now collaborating with same-day delivery provider DoorDash. Nearly 1,000 U.S. Staples stores are now available on the DoorDash marketplace, just in time for the start of the new school year, with average fulfillment time of less than an hour.
Staples products are also available on DashPass, the DoorDash membership program that offers $0 delivery fees on eligible orders that meet minimum subtotals. In addition, customers can get $20 off Staples’ orders of $40 or more on DoorDash using a special code through Sunday, Aug. 13.
Staples has offered same-day delivery from its U.S. retail stores in collaboration with Instacart since June 2020. It participated in the Instacart “Big and Bulky” same-day delivery program for large items since August 2022 and Instacart Business business-to-business marketplace since February 2023.
The new partnership builds upon Staples’ participation in DoorDash’s first-ever back-to-school hub. Launched in July 2023, the online storefront features streamlined shopping and national deals on an assortment of retail and grocery products, with average delivery time of less than an hour. Other retailers providing items for sale via the hub include Aldi, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Sprouts Farmers Markets, and Walgreens.
DoorDash back-to-school hub users can also obtain up to 50% off Staples orders with a special discount of $20 off orders of $40 more.. The promo code was revealed by Staples via Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Staples adds omnichannel services
Staples has been launching new omnichannel features this year. In addition to its growing collaborations with DoorDash and Instacart, the retailer began accepting in-store returns of online Amazon orders in June 2023. All Staples U.S. retail locations now accept free, label-free, box-free returns for Amazon customers.
After completing their return, customers receive a coupon for special savings that they can use on an assortment of products and services in-store that day
June 2023 also saw Staples introduce Total Support Plans, designed to protect customers who purchase computers from viruses, identity theft, crashed laptops, accidents, and more, with a live agent available at any time of day.
